News and blog

Welcome to the blog.

Good Morning!!

The weather looks great for pizza this evening, so why don't you head out to the farm and get some! Take a walk around the farm to see where we grow loads of organic produce and get filled up on fresh, wood fired pizza and other treats. Our seasonal special will be sunflower seed and spring greens pesto, fresh mozzarella, and farm fresh spinach. We have more options to choose from including gluten free. Head to this link to our website to get the rest of the details. We have Olivia Panthofer as our musical guest too. If you plan to eat outside, the grass may still be wet so you might want to bring a chair. We do have a construction update, Hwy A is "closed" for repaving at Coachmens golf resort, so you can take Church Rd. or Maple Grove to get around that area. We hope to see you out there tonight.

Hello and where the heck did the sun go?!!!! We need some sun for plant growth and for a general mood increaser. The little sprout looking greens are micro greens. There are a couple different kinds this week. Some are tall and some are tiny. They are great on salads, on sandwiches, in wraps or even topped on grilled chicken or fish.

If you need a reminder on where your box location is, refer back to your sign up email. The location of the boxes and the address is on that email. You can also head to http://sproutingacres.com/members/statusemail to get a status email explaining where they are sitting at the sites. If you still have questions, please feel free to call Andy, 608-469-2319. He will start delivering today around lunchtime. Names will be on the boxes, please make sure you are only taking your box with your name to keep the other members from wondering what to do when theirs is gone.

Call if you have any other questions. The newsletter link is below.

Due to the collapse of our largest hoophouse this winter, we have to limit the number of Spring Shares we offer. Sorry for the inconvenience. We hope to resurrect a new one this year for 2020.

Great new from our neck of the woods. We got our final approval last week for our pizza nights on the farm! We will have much more info about them soon but for now, we will have pizza nights the 1st & 3rd Sundays from May to October in 2019. So check your calendars and keep a couple Sunday evenings open this season to head out to the farm to see what we have been working on. We also have cooking classes going on now. The snow will be melting soon and the greenhouse is getting fired up on Monday. We are getting ready for another season at the farm and we hope to see you out there this summer. We have a lot in store for this season.

Hello!

We hope you are staying warm in this bitter cold weather. This is a reminder that there is just one month left to receive the early bird CSA pricing. We are getting things started in just about a month and sooner in the hoophouses.  We still have Spring Shares available and don't forget we offer Market Share Cards as well. These market cards can be used at our markets for whatever you want! They will also be able to be used at the farm this season during cooking classes and pizza nights. The beauty of the cards is you don't have to carry them around with you. We keep them at the stand for your convenience.

We also have a few new cooking classes available so check those out as well. Mary from Honeybee bakery will be teaching a cake class in March and we will start Pizza classes in late April. You will learn how to make your own crust and be able to learn how to cook your pizza in our wood fired oven. These classes would be a great night out for a private pizza party with friends or family.

We are excited to get this new season rolling and the greenhouse fired up!

We hope to hear from you soon. Email or call us if you have any questions.

Hello!

We hope you enjoyed the holidays and hope you have fun plans for the new year as well. The new year is just days away and we wanted to remind you that if you haven't already signed up for your 2019 CSA with us you still have time for the bonus $10 gift card that can be spent at farm events next year, canned goods, or at our farmers' market tents. The returning member discount (if you've ever been a member and signed up online this includes you) and the early bird discount are still available as well. So you still have two and 1/4 days to get three discounts on your signup!

If you have any questions about signing back up please send us an email! We are planning the field layouts and getting our seed orders ready to send in. The new season starts (for us) in less than 65 days!

Thanks and have a great New Year!

Hello,

We are emailing you this fine evening to let you know that we have opened up signups on the website for the 2019 season. We have a few new options that we are excited about for next season. We are offering a split season which means you can either sign up for the first half (ten weeks) or the second half (ten weeks). We are also starting a canning share for next season. The finished processed goods from the farm will be available later in the season and will be delivered in one or two deliveries. With our new farm kitchen we are also planning on CSA member only farm event days, which will include cooking classes, pizza events and more. These will not be open to the public and will be only for CSA members and their families. We hope to have 3-4 CSA events this season.

Also, if you didn't already know yet, we have gift cards available for cooking classes, farm events, processed goods available at the farm, and for farmers' markets! The square cards can be purchased at the farm and the class gift cards are available at the class signup page. We can also mail out the square gift cards or a paper gift certificate for online class purchases. There are also Square E-gift cards available on our website. You just fill it out and email it off. Just send us an email and we can get you what you need. The gift cards make great stocking stuffers!    We also have all the CSA options that we had last year as well. One change we made this season is that we eliminated the invoice only checkout online when you sign up. We had to go to an all Pay-Pal checkout. You can still pay in installments like in the previous seasons.

If you know anyone in the weather department please put in a good word for us for next season. We are hoping for way less rain and perfect weather. We'll see what we get!

Don't forget: returning members get $10 off their vegetable share when they sign up. We are also adding on a farm gift card worth $10 for signs up in December; one per vegetable share sign up. The new canned goods option is not available to purchase on it's own and is considered an add-on to a vegetable share. Sign ups before March 1st will receive 5% off.  Early bird signups really help us get the new season going with potting mix, seeds, and fuel for the greenhouse. We start planning and purchasing those this month.

Thanks for supporting us last season and sticking it out through the rough patches. Let us know if you have any questions about signing up, classes, gift cards, or anything else you can think of.

Here is the website link.

Have a great weekend!
