We made it to week one! The fields are filling up fast with delicious produce and we can't wait. Please read this whole email even if you are not getting a share this week. There is information for everyone. I am reposting the pickup site and time info in this email just to make sure it is out there. Click on this link(it works this time) for all the info that was sent out earlier this week. 

Pickup information, locations and times

Ok here we go. 

First, we had a mixup with picking up cookbooks and we were not able to get to the fairshare office in time to get them so, cookbooks that were ordered will be delivered next week to anyone that is picking up a box then the rest delivered the week after. 

Second, members picking up a the farm, please walk up to the front of the new blue barn, open the front door and find your box on a table. 

3. Please do not take home the black totes. We have a limited number and need all of them left at locations so we can clean and reuse them each week. All boxes and totes will be lined. Pull the liner out and take the bag home or empty the contents into a bag of your own. 

4c. Small weekly shares are in elongated cucumber waxed boxes. They will have your name on them. Standard shares will be in black plastic totes. They will have your name on them. Family shares will be in tall 1 1/9th bushel boxes. They will have your name on them. So, all three different sized shares will all look different this year. Your only responsibility at the pickup site is to make sure you only take your box! We are thinking of doing away with having you check off your name on the sheet just to keep down the touching of the pen and such. So, if you box is still there after pickup time is over, we will know who it belongs to. With this warm weather, veggies will only make it overnight then start to decline but it is best to get them inside as soon as possible to a fridge. 

If you forgot to pickup up your box please send me an email so we can let the site members know you are still coming or planning on coming on Friday morning. Things happen, traffic happens, life is busy and wild right now. We will have to donate the box to another family if we don't hear from you by the next morning about picking up your share. Your Wednesday night reminder is this email. It will not ever be thing long again so don't worry. I'm just trying to cover everything for those of you that are new!

Please print off or take a picture of the pickup dates if you have an Every Other Week Share. I know it can be confusing. I even have a pic so I can double check which EOW shares go to which sites each week. Technology can be our friend.

Hello,

I am re-sending the two pertinent emails from yesterday to make sure everyone has them in one location. I'm sorry for the multiple emails yesterday and hopefully this is the last until the newsletter on Wednesday. Please read all the information below as it is important. Also, please take a picture or print out the dates for your CSA share/location. 

We are just a few days away from the beginning of the Main Season CSA Shares. Please make sure you read this email in it's entirety as it will have info for everyone about the season. Please note, in the text below, you will find out your start date if you have an Every Other Week Share with us. 

If you have an Every Week share, the full 20 weeks, your start date for the first box is next Thursday, June 4th.  

If you are picking up your share at one of these pickup locations,

The Farm, Cambridge, Stoughton, Oregon, Amtelco, or Monona and you have an Every Other Week Share, your first box is next week, Thursday, June 4th as well. You will be picking up on ODD box dates(the actual box number, not the date). Box numbers 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19

ODD box numbered dates are ...

June 4th/June 18th/July 2nd/July 16th/July 30/August 13th/August 27th/September 10th/September 24th/October 8th

 

 If you are picking up your share at one of these locations,

Hermina St., East Johnson Street, Randall Ave., Regent St., or Dorchester Way and you have an Every Other Week Share, your first box is on Thursday, June 11th. You will be picking up on EVEN box dates(the actual box number, not the date) Box numbers 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20

EVEN box numbered dates are...

June 11th/June 25th/July 9th/July 23rd/August 6th/August 20th/September 3rd/September 17th/October 1st/October 15th

Box pickup days.

Please don't take home the black plastic totes that the shares are held in at the sites. These are pricey for us to replace. We will be bagging the shares again this season to keep the food cleaner. You can bring your own bag, use the big bag in the share or bring a box. You may also leave behind the bag we provide if it is not needed. Just leave it in the black box.

The boxes will be labeled with your name again this season. Please don't take a box unless it has your name on the label. We don't have boxes made up back at the farm and if boxes are taken on a day it shouldn't, we have to harvest the produce again to replace the taken box. 

Cookbooks, if ordered will be included in your first box. Let us know if you have any questions. Here is a link to the specific site page from our website with details about each sites location and time. Please be respectful of the sites as they are members homes. We do have a checkoff sheet at each site that we use to make sure everyone got their share. If you could please check off the box next to your name it really helps us if the wrong boxes are taken at a site. It shouldn't be a problem since all boxes have labels with names and sites printed on them. This year there will be a waxed box containing our small weekly shares. They will be labeled as well so there shouldn't be any confusion. Standard size weekly shares and EOW shares will be in our black totes again. Family shares will be in a larger sized waxed box as well. We will also have a sign out for the first couple weeks at each site designating it as a pickup location.

Please take a picture on your phone if you have one of the pickup dates or print it and tape it to your forehead or fridge, car, etc. so you know which dates you pick up. With schedules out of whack with covid_19 and all, it may be trickier this summer to remember which days are yours to pick up.

Canning shares are distributed at the end of the season and you will receive updates as we start producing them. You will receive a newsletter link via email on Wednesday nights/early Thursday morning which serves as your weekly reminder to pick up as well. This email goes out to everyone in our CSA so make sure you check with your dates to make sure it is your week. Also remember, we had a cool early May and things got slowed down that were out in the field so we may be on the lighter side as far as veggies go for the first couple of weeks then we should start seeing boxes ramp up as we get towards the end of the month. Early weeks tend to be leafy greens, radishes, etc. and the middle to the end of the CSA tend to be the heaviest. We grow what is in season, we can push some things earlier with hoophouses but we can't push everything. CSA means you eat what is in season. We are also at the whim of mother nature so cross your fingers she's feeling kind this season!

Thanks again for your support this season and in past seasons if this isn't your first with us. We are getting close to our 20th season and getting better each year. I'm sure I'm forgetting something so you may hear from us soon!

Good morning and happy June!(almost) The online store is open and ready for pizza and salads, sides, and desserts. Don't forget to mention in the comments if you need a Gluten Free crust. We are still operating as before with take out only. We are waiting until we can open back up for customers on site without such a small number congregating in one place. Have a great rest of the weekend and enjoy this weather, it looks steamy this week!

June 7th Pizza Night Online Ordering

Happy Mothers' Day! It is that time again. It's time to place your take-out pizza order for next week's Pizza on the Farm. Remember there are only a certain number of pizzas per 1/2 hour time slot so if one is full, try another!

We will have salad, cookies, rhubarb bars and spring pesto to take home too!

If you were looking for vegetable or flower transplants for your garden, feel free to place a plant order to be picked up while you get your pizza too!

Hello! I'll make this short and sweet. Today is the first spring share that you ordered. We have had an interesting spring to say the least but we made it to May. We hope you and your families are all well and staying safe. At your sites this afternoon you will find a black tote with your name on it as well as a terra cotta planter with some huge lettuce and kale growing in it. Please take one planter, the one next to your share. They will have labels on them but they may be hard to read with the lettuce  falling over. Please try not to touch anything else today at the sites to keep other items free of lots of hands. Leave the black tote behind and only take the bag of produce home. This will ensure we can keep them sanitized and clean for next time.

We wanted to send out a little update from the farm this week for some reminders. We sent out an email a few days ago to the members that are getting a Spring Share this Thursday. If you got plants from us and this week is your delivery date, we will have them at the pickup sites. They will have your name on the box as well as an invoice with what you ordered. Please, please, please take them into your house overnight Thursday and don't rush to get things planted quite yet. Tender plants like basil, peppers, and tomatoes will get severely damaged on Friday when it is supposed to drop below 32F. We are keeping all our tender plants in the warm greenhouse and you should too.

The main season CSA boxes don't start until the first week of June. Every other week boxes start either the first week or the second week of June. We will be sending out another email in a week or two letting you know which week your EOW share will be delivered. It will be either the ODD numbered weeks or the EVEN numbered weeks. We will also send you a reminder that you can take a picture of or print to keep handy in case you are not sure which week you pick up. We also send out an e-newsletter on Wednesday nights with a reminder as well. 

Please email if you have any questions and we will try to get back in a timely fashion. We are busy cramming cool weather crops in the ground, working fields while it is dry, laying fabric for warm weather crops, planting in the greenhouse every week for multiple plantings and getting hundreds of plants labeled and ready for your home gardens and containers. 

Thanks so much for all the support this season so far. We filled our CSA to capacity which was badly needed with the loss of our markets and pizza nights being just for carryout. It has been great to see the community come together to help support us and other local farms and businesses in the area. We are very excited for this season. Now, we just have to contend with mother nature and one nasty virus!

Market share holders, you should have received an email in the last 24 hours with a gift card code to use at our store. We will more than likely start adding produce to the store on a weekly basis starting next week. It has been a little cool and things have paused for a few days. Let us know if you have any questions regarding the market shares this season since they are a little different.

We are getting geared up for our first ever, CARRY OUT ONLY PIZZA ON THE FARM!

That's right. We will be offering 5 types of pizzas, a seasonal salad for 2 and a chocolate chip cookie pack for farm pickup this Sunday. We ask that you stay in your car and pull in the same driveway as last season. Then follow the signs down to the Big Blue Barn where we will get your order out to your car in a timely manner. There is no outdoor or indoor seating at this time so please stay in your cars. We hope that in the near future we can run the pizza nights a little closer to how we ran them last season but for now, this is what we are doing. 

All orders must be placed online at our new online store where you can pick your 1/2 hour carry out time. If you have questions, please send them to andy@macwatson.net. We are not offering any beverages at this time but that may change in the future.

We are sold out of our shares for this season but you can still check out our new online store!  Right now we have plants for sale for delivery to our CSA sites and once we have produce we will be adding that as well. Also look for online pizza ordering in the days to come! Pizza nights continue starting the first Sunday in May for carryout only. Stay tuned.

Hello,

We hope you are safe and healthy! We were trying to figure out how to get credits on the new online store and we came up with an idea. In the very near future, you will get an email with a coupon/gift certificate for your amount that you purchased with us for this market season. Seeing that markets are sort of opening for preorder and farm pickup only in the near future, we figured this would be the best way to get you your market goods. The Spring CSA share starts the first Thursday in May and we should have some veggies ready by then that we would normally take to market. So, you will be using the online store for now for a Thursday delivery to a site close to where you live. We will send you the list of pickup locations this weekend with your coupon codes.

If you have any questions, fire away. If you did by chance purchase something already at the new online market, we will just adjust the gift card to reflect that purchase. We will most likely be doing the online pickup and ordering at the Downtown location which we will send out another email when that happens. It is not on the square since the State pulled all permits for now. We will keep you updated as we learn more!

Thanks again for supporting us and we hope we can maneuver around whatever  mother nature throws our way whether it's rain or a new virus transmitted from a wild animal that then travels around the whole world and gets you sick! 

Stay safe please, wear a mask if you have to go out and we will update you on all our new safety protocols we will be implementing this season.
