Hello,

We sent out the newsletter last night and are just sending out one more reminder that CSA boxes will be delivered today, July 3rd, instead of the 4th. We hope you have a great holiday.

Welcome to week 6. We are delivering boxes a day early so you have your produce for the holiday if you are leaving home. We hope you have a great 4th of July, see some beautiful lights in the sky tomorrow night, and enjoy your produce this week. The newsletter link is below.

Thanks,

Sprouting Acres

Look for Andy under a white Sprouting Acres tent a few stalls past Starbucks. If not there, keep looking. It's a small 8' tent so don't blink or look at the capitol, you'll miss him. He's bringing dry beans from last fall, chard, lots of different kale, collards, chiogga beets, head lettuce, garlic and more.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks for waiting for the recipes. I only had to wake up at 2:00 and 4:00 to pump the basement out. Both times feel like I was dreaming. Here is the added page with recipes for the newsletter. The garlic in the box is fresh garlic. It can be used like regular "cured" garlic. It is not as strong as cured but is delicious and fresh tasting. If you leave it out on the counter it will dry in a week or so. Or toss it in the fridge to keep it from drying as fast.

Here is the 2nd half of the newsletter.

Welcome to week five. We are busy bailing out water in the farm basement(folks out of town, trying to save furnace) so check back tomorrow for recipes and more news. This week is an ODD EOW so you will be picking up an EOW box if your site is Stoughton, Farm, Oregon, or Dean clinic.

We have a lot of plants growing quickly with the water and heat and hope for some new veggies over the next couple weeks. Bear with us as we try to dry out and send some of this water back in time to last season. That would be nice. Have a great weeknd and remember, next week's boxes will be delivered on Wednesday the 3rd instead of the 4th of July. You will get a couple more reminders about the switch next week.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to week 4. We are still busy catching up on the farm but we have pretty much caught up to where we want to be. Now it's maintaining what we have in the groung. Trimming our hoophouse tomatoes so they can grow 8' feet tall. Tying up all the tomatoes so they don't hit the ground, ever. Keeping all the beds free of weeds and getting them when they are small and easy to hoe(we have a hoe attached to a big wheel that make it easy). Replacing plants that deer, rabbits, mother nature, and mysterious other reasons have dissapeared. Seeding in the greenhouse every week trying to keep up with lettuce and greens successions. Getting our fall transplants nice and big so we can put those out in a few weeks. You name it, we are doing it, every day, all day, all week. We did put the asparagus bed to rest finally and our backs are happy for doing so. The strawberry plants are starting to send out nice big runners so we can have a big harvest next spring. Our to do list never ends, there is always work to do on the farm, but we love doing it. Well, most of it. I could do without the weeds.

Remember it is an even box week. Have a great weekend and enjoy your veggies. Also, let us know what you liked over the last four weeks and tell us what you have been making. We really like to know. Just send us an email or post on facebook.

Hello and welcome to week three of the season. I ran out of room on the newsletter for some info. First, it would really help us out if you picked up your veggies with a bag of your own and left the boxes at the sites. We are running low and don't want to order more this year if we don't need to. Thanks. Also, I teach cooking classes at All Through The House kitchen store in Stoughton almost every Monday and we still have spots available for some classes in the summer session. You can visit www.shopthehouse.com to learn more. They are a lot of fun, I promise, and Kim likes to pour wine! You will learn more than you think.

Have a great weekend and we hope you enjoy this nice weather coming our way.

Please check your status on the website to see if you need to shore up any payments and if you think there is an error please email me and we can figure it out. Springtime is crazy and even I make mistakes:)

Below is the link. Let us know if it doesn't work. You can also cut and paste it into your web browser and it is also available on the website.

Also, let me know if you didn't get your cookbook if you ordered one or if you would like to order one. We will begin selling the new cookbook from Fairshare next week.

Thanks again for making the farm possible.

Hello and welcome to week #2 at Sprouting Acres. The weather is getting us down other than it's great for working outside, just not for heat loving summer crops. Oh well, we will probably be complaining in three weeks that it's just too hot and dry. It's Wisconsin. Enjoy your veggies, more are on the way.

If you are picking up at Dorchester, First St., Regent, or Vilas, you will be picking up on EVEN box numbered weeks. You will need to pick up your boxes on the 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22 weeks. That means you will start with the 2nd the box of the season and end with the last (the 22nd)

Those dates are....

June 6th, June 20, July 3*, July 18, August 1, August 15, August 29, Sept. 12, Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 24

If you forgot to pickup your purchased cookbook last week, send me an email before 12:00 p.m. tomorrow and I will be able to drop them off at the site again. Otherwise we will get it to you soon. We will be posting about the new Fairshare cookbook in the near future. It's a pretty neat book. We will have those available for sale as well as the A to Z cookbook all season.

If you are picking up an EOW box this week, please take one bag with asparagus and herb plants. There will be a note on the pickup checkoff list. Also, please check off your name when you pick up your full share or EOW share. This helps us get ahold of you if you forgot to pickup or if there is another problem.

Below is the link to the newsletter. If you can't just click on it, then cut and paste it to your web address bar. You can also check out www.sproutingacres.com and it will be the latest news on the front page.
