News and blog

Welcome to the blog.

Don't forget to pick up your boxes today!

You are receiving this email because you are either signed up for a CSA share with us or are a Market Share member. Market share members will not be picking up anything other than at the markets but we wanted you to have access to the newsletters and info from the farm.

Hello and welcome to week one. We made it. We had a long, cold spring but things have turned around as they always do and the vegetables that are planted out are growing everyday. A couple of reminders for this first box pickup. First, you can check your membership status on the right side of the website, www.sproutingacres.com. It will tell you pickup locations and times as well. Please try to remember to bring a bag and unload your veggies from the box into the bag. If you are afraid of ripping the tabs on the box while collapsing it, then please just leave it open. If you do need to take it with you, please bring it back as soon as you can.

22 week full shares start picking up today!

Family size share members, look for your names on a larger 3/4 bushel box. To all other members, please only take the 5/9 bushel boxes that are not labeled if you have an EOW share or a Standard Weekly share.

Every Other Week share members should have gotten an email from us about a week ago telling you which weeks/dates you will be picking up your boxes. Here is a reminder....

If you pickup at Dean clinic in Janesville, Hermina, Rockdale(farm), Regent St., or Stoughton, your Every Other Week (EOW) box will be picked up today. All other EOW members at other sites will be picking up starting next week.

Please email me in the morning if you have any questions that were not answered in this email or from checking your status. andy@macwatson.net  or 608-469-2319

If you purchased eggs they will also be labeled. Please do not take eggs if you did not order them. If you are not sure, check your status on the website.

Please check off your name when you pickup your items.

We are also tossing in a Fairshare CSA coalition bumper sticker. If you do not want it, you can leave it in the box at the site.

Flower Shares start in a couple of months. Check out this link to learn more. http://www.turnstonefarm.com/bees-and-flowers/

Lastly, if you ordered a cookbook and you did not get it with a Spring Share then look for your cookbook with your name on the cover as well. They will be sitting right next to the boxes. They can be ordered anytime. Just let me know if you would like one. They are both great books for using seasonal produce.

Below is the link for the newsletter. If you have troubles opening it, you can try the website as well. It will be under the most recent news/blog area.

Have a great weekend and welcome to the 2014 season.

Welcome to the final week of the 2014 Spring Share. We hope you have enjoyed eating what we grew for you. The Spring Share was again a very popular share and we were sold out. We hope you are staying on with us for the Main Season Shares but if not, thanks so much for making it possible for us to grow great food for you. We couldn't do this without you. Below is the newsletter.

Thanks again and have a great summer. If you have another share for the summer, check your in-boxes tomorrow night for an email about the first boxes next week.

Hello! We are approaching the first week of the 2014 CSA season.

We are on our fourth week of Spring Shares and then we move right into the main season shares the a week later. We will be sending out another email this week letting you know details about your specific start date if you purchased an EOW share. You will either be the odd weeks, or the even weeks. We will send you specific dates that you should put on your fridge or set reminders in your phone so you know when you pick up.

We also wanted to let you know that if you are looking for info on your membership, pickup location, balance due, etc., you can scroll down on the right side of the website, www.sproutingacres.com and click on membership status. If you would like to change your pickup location to one that was added after you signed up, please let us know. We now have a pickup behind East High School in Madison at the 4&20 Bakery and Cafe. We also added a site in Monona on Tompkins Drive.

Look for an email from us in the next two days that will have more detailed info about first day pickup next week. If you have any questions now or after the next email please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello and welcome to week 3 of the Spring Share. This week you have some homework to do. Instead of giving you a recipe, we gave you some recipe links to peruse. Just click on the link and there are ample recipes to choose from this week. Try one, two, or all of them! Try something new. Creamy asparagus soup would taste good this last (hopefully) cold week of spring. Marinated and grilled Pac choi is also delicious. Also, don't forget, there are recipes on the website as you scroll down on the right side. They are not all of ours but there is a nice mix from farms all over the country.

We hope you enjoy Week 3 and hopefully you can make something this week that warms up your house.

We are unable to take enough to the market tomorrow so we will not be at the market. We are still holding out for some more veggies before we hit more markets. Next week is looking better. Have a great weekend.

Happy Thursday and welcome to week #2 of the Spring Shares. Don't forget to return your boxes each week or bring a bag with you so you don't have to take the boxes home. Also, the basic storage rule for almost all vegetables is to put them into a bag and into the fridge. Some come in bags but some we put straight into the box. The weather looks like it's changing for the better and the veggies are taking off. The newsletter link is below and can also be found at the website, www.sproutingacres.com under the news/blog.

Hello all, not sure if you had heard this one but.....

GHC Rebates
Group Health Cooperative announced a change to its CSA Health Insurance Rebate as of March 1. Everyone on the policy age 18 and older can apply for a $100 reimbursement (points!) toward the cost of the share (in the past it was $100 for individuals and $200 for couples and families). This is helpful if you have young adults on your policy.
You can find out more at this link from Fairshare
