Welcome to week 10 of your CSA

Posted 7/31/2013 9:46pm by Andy Watson.

Hello and welcome to week 10 of your CSA! We have almost hit the halfway point of the season but it feels like May out there. What is going on with the weather? Where is the summer heat? Why so much extra rain? Oh well, that's farming. It has been pretty nice outside lately. Can't complain really. We hope you try to quick pickle some veggies this week. It's a great way to use up some leftover items or extras. Also, we are trying to move out some celery, we have a nasty leaf disease that is wiping out our celery that is usually so beautiful all season. We wanted to make sure all boxes get some before it's gone. If you still have your head from last week and don't know what to do with this one, chop the whole thing up and freeze it. It will come in handy in winter when you need some celery for a soup or stock. Just shake out a few pieces into the pot and you're done.

We hope you have a great weekend and let us know if you did any pickling. We are doing some more this weekend for sure.
