Welcome to the blog.

Hello and Happy Spring! We all know this has been anything but a normal spring because of the current heath crisis in the state and world. We hope you are taking all the necessary precautions to keep yourself healthy. We will get through this together. Also, don't forget to keep visiting your favorite cafes and restaurants that are open and doing carry out or delivery. They need to have business to keep open during this crisis. Supporting local right now is more important than ever.

We wanted to fill you in on how things are looking for this season. We've had a few people ask if our CSA is in jeopardy because of the health crisis. We are one of a few industries that are not being forced to shut down. People need to eat and we are the means of getting the food to the people. We feel CSA is a great alternative to the grocery store and even markets as this outbreak continues. It reduces time around other people even though we are all craving that right now.

We will be taking extra precautions with shares this year but we feel our pickup locations are a prime spot for dispensing food for a few reasons. They are spread out in distance as well as time shares are available for pickup. We don't have a central location where everyone meets up. We will have more protocols for actual pickup locations in the near future and will more than likely have a sign at each site with protocols on them. We have already been using new single use plastic bags inside the boxes for all shares so that will continue. As much as it pains us to use more plastic, we may be bagging a few more things this year. We will be quarantining our waxed boxes for at least two weeks to ensure nothing is being transferred from week to week and our plastic totes will be washed and sanitized each week in our commercial licensed kitchen sinks. This will ensure we are keeping all families safe week after week.

We are trying to figure out what we will be doing in April when outdoor markets are supposed to start. Our markets are a pretty big part of our farm. We have market share customers that see us every week as well as regulars we've had for over 10 years. These people are going to miss their veggies if we are not able to vend at the markets and we will miss going. So, we are working on getting an website set up for ordering our produce online. We are thinking since we already have pickup locations for our CSA, we can have pickup locations for other produce as well. We will update you when we have everything up online and especially when we have produce to sell. The Dane County Farmers' Market has set up a system of picking up vendors produce for the winter market but we don't have word yet on how that will work for the larger market up on the square. We are watching the state updates on rules but hope things change for the better when the weather gets warmer. For now, we hope you are all staying safe, washing hands, and spending some quality family time with those you love. Get out of the house for some fresh air too.

Check you email for updates in the near future and have a great week and weekend.

Don't forget you have just about 6 weeks left to get the early bird pricing for the 2020 CSA season. Believe it or not, we start planting in just 6 weeks! We are getting the seeds ordered and greenhouse ready for our first day of planting. We haven't had much of a winter until now and Jimmy the groundhog makes an appearance in just two weeks! That means veggies and pizza nights are just around the corner. We added a small, every week share to this season's offerings as well. Send us an email if you have any questions about signup, working at the farm in exchange for veggies, cooking classes, pizza nights or just to say hi!

Stay safe this weekend if you are traveling and stay warm!

The weather looks chilly over the next couple of days and then quite a warm-up next week for the holiday break. Thanks to those of you that signed up early for the 2020 season. We have started our seed orders and filling propane tanks in preparation for the new season. We wanted to remind you that if you haven't signed up yet for our CSA, there are just a few more weeks to get the early bird discount. We also offer a returning member discount for last season members and members that may have taken a season or two off and want to come back.

We added some on-farm cooking classes that you can view here. 2020 Cooking Classes Also don't forget, we offer Sprouting Acres gift cards in any denomination for stocking stuffers or gifts this holiday season. We can process them over the phone and mail them out the same day to make it in time for the holiday. They can be used for cooking classes, farm products at markets, and at the farm for pizza nights.

If you have any questions or need a gift card, please feel free to contact Andy at andy@macwatson.net or give him a call. 608-469-2319

Good cold December morning!

We are getting our planning started for the 2020 season we are ready for signups. The computer program is very user-friendly for returning members as well as new members. Just head to the signup page link to get started. Prices have stayed the same as last season with early bird signups and returning member discounts as well. Don't forget to take advantage of these discounts.

We are happy to announce we finished the second pizza oven at the farm and will have it up and running for our first pizza night in May. We hope to be able to make even more pizzas at one time to help speed up the process a bit. We had a pretty successful first pizza season and we can't wait to start it all again in May. We are planning on new menu items as well as a build your own pizza option. We also hope to have more produce available as well as more canned goods too. Don't forget, we have gift cards available that can be used at our market stands as well as on the farm for pizza nights. They make great stocking stuffers and gifts for the holidays and birthdays. We also have a couple of cooking classes listed right now with more to follow soon.

We start ordering seeds this month and begin planting in just about 90 days. We depend on early signups and payments to help us get the seeds ordered, propane tanks filled, and potting mix ordered. If you have any questions about anything involving csa, gift cards, pizza, or cooking classes, please don't hesitate to email or call! If you have any questions about next season's weather forecast, get in line. Have a great holiday with friends and family and we hope to hear from you soon!

Hello and welcome to the last box of the season! We finally made it to the end. Things are getting cleaned up at the farm and we are pulling in the last of the crops that can handle the cold. If you got a canning share and didn't get it last week, you will have one this week at your site. They are in brown paper bags with your last name on the bag. Please don't forget to take them home. Also, please don't take the black totes home this week since we have trouble getting them back over winter. Thanks again for a great season of support. We couldn't do it without you. Here is this week's Newsletter Link.

Have a great winter and holiday season!
